About Me:

“I cannot count the good people I know who, to my mind, would be even better if they bent their spirits to the study of their own hungers. There are too many of us, otherwise in proper focus, who feel an impatience for the demands of our bodies, and who try throughout our whole lives, none too successfully, to deafen ourselves to the voices of our various hungers. Some stuff the wax of religious solace in our ears. Others practice a Spartan if somewhat pretentious disinterest in the pleasures of the flesh, or pretend that if we do not admit our sensual delight in a ripe nectarine we are not guilty … of even that tiny lust! I believe that one of the most dignified ways we are capable of, to assert and then reassert our dignity in the face of poverty and war's fears and pains, is to nourish ourselves with all possible skill, delicacy, and ever-increasing enjoyment. And with our gastronomical growth will come, inevitably, knowledge and perception of a hundred other things, but mainly of ourselves. Then Fate, even tangled as it is with cold wars as well as hot, cannot harm us.”

I've been an advocate for creative, balanced life/work styles all my life. I worked in corporate America in several management stints, then I headed off toward alternative work routes. I co-founded and ran a community-based business (now legendary) that featured local artists and characters in San Francisco's Haight-Ashbury district. I founded an Asian-influenced catering business, cooked for a short time at the renowned Greens Restaurant and worked/played at learning body coaching techniques while doing the mr. mom, stay-at-home-dad routine through my son's youngest years.

When my son went off to grade school my wife, several partners and I co-founded another business, this one aimed at helping companies cope with diversity-in the-workplace issues. We designed and internationally marketed a best-selling interactive game, teaching companies how to gently diffuse misunderstandings that arise from diversity issues.

Through my experience as a stay-at-home-dad and my understanding of gender issues from the diversity work, I realized that healing can result from uncovering and resolving crippling conflicts in the forbidden zones of male and female energy. This realization encouraged me to go deeper into bodymind integration.

Discovering the healing that occurs when the body is honored and acknowleged with the mind I began my current path gentlly integrating massage, yoga, Breema and Life Coaching to help people with transforming their lives to a more balanced and joyful whole.

'How to be in harmony with the cosmos? It seems that certain preliminaries are indispensable: Rid yourself of all beliefs; leave metaphysics to the sectarians of the absurd; understand that hope is fear gone bad; confront reality directly; stop upholding the romantic dream of realization; forget sentimental neurosis; play with your own limits; look at your confusion; confront life without the bric-a-brac of the religious and the spiritual…without, for all that, becoming a narrow-minded materialist who would make a new God out of rationalism; dare to be alone; do not oppose Essence against reality; give yourself over to the pleasures of pure subjectivity; understand that everything is real; and finally, one day, know exhilarating silence.”
